From All Directions is an online community hosted by Loriene Roy, advisory editor of The American Indian Experience, an online resource exploring the history and culture of American Indians.

How can I contribute to From All Directions?

Anyone can become a contributor. Just send an email to Loriene Roy and let her know a little about who you are and what you would like to write about. Indigenous people of all backgrounds are especially encouraged to consider contributing posts or podcasts to the blog.


What is the focus of From All Directions?

We plan to explore a range of issues affecting contemporary American Indians, as well as topics that deal with curriculum and scholarship about American Indian history. In the coming months we plan to examine health care, environment, arts, culture, language recovery, literature, and much, much more.

What is The American Indian Experience and how is it related to From All Directions?

The American Indian Experience is an online resource from Greenwood Publishing that examines the history and culture American Indians, including the lives of contemporary Natives Peoples. Part of The American Mosaic, a suite of online projects that explore the American multiethnic experience, The American Indian Experience is designed to provide libraries with the latest full-text reference and scholarly content on American Indians. Who is Loriene Roy and what is her role in From All Directions and The American Indian Experience?

Loriene Roy is a Professor in the School of Information, The University of Texas at Austin and 2007-2008 President of the American Library Association. Anishinabe, she is enrolled on the White Earth Reservation, a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. She is blog host and a frequent author and podcast host for the blog, From All Directions. As Advisory Editor to The American Indian Experience web site, she has guided the design and development of a resource consisting of 150 books, hundreds of images and primary documents, lesson plans, and content on more than 350 contemporary tribal communities.
